Dr. Georgios Ioannidis is an Obstetrician/Gynecologist specializing in infertility, assisted reproduction and IVF, as well as reproductive laparoscopic / hysteroscopic surgery. He graduated from the Athens University School of Medicine, has 25 years of experience and completed his residency in some of the busiest University Hospitals in the UK (Hammersmith Hospital, King’s College Hospital, Guy’s Hospital) and Norway (Ulleval University Hospital).
He had the honor of specializing in IVF and writing his research dissertation at the well-known IVF Unit of Hammersmith Hospital, London, under the supervision of the leading professor Lord Robert Winston.
Dr. Ioannidis has extensive scientific work and publications in international literature and as a result he has been honored and elected Regular Member of the European Academy of Sciences.
In the last fifteen years, he has held many senior posts at MITERA Hospital, including Scientific Director of the MITERA IVF Assisted Reproduction Unit.  He is a member of the Scientific Board of MITERA Hospital and actively participates in numerous scientific events both as a speaker and organizer.
Dr. Ioannidis is a member of both the European and the US Society of Human Reproduction and has trained many physicians and nurses in Assisted Reproduction at MITERA.
He is a member of the founding team of specialists who had the vision to establish HYGEIA IVF, the largest and most comprehensive IVF Unit in Greece.

Panagiotis Karantzis MD, PhD, DRCOG studied at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, fully specializing in Obstetrics/Gynecology in Great Britain (Manchester University Hospital under Professor Max Elstein, Royal Maternity Hospital and Princess Royal Hospital at Hull – Yorkshire under Professor Killick). He also trained for 2 years with Eddi Holt in endoscopic surgery. Upon returning to Greece, he was actively involved in Assisted Reproduction and was a key member of K. Pantos’ team at the Genesis Athens Clinic. He has also participated in a series of papers, many of which were presented at international and Greek conferences and fora.

The doctor served as an elected member of the Scientific Board of MITERA Hospital, Scientific Director of the MITERA Hospital Assisted Reproduction Unit (IVF) for a number of years and treasurer of the Board of Obstetricians and Gynecologists of Greece. He completed his doctoral thesis at the 2nd University Obstetrics/Gynecology Clinic under Professor G. Kreatsas and was awarded a PhD from the University of Athens in 2012. In October 2016, he was awarded the European Certification of Hysteroscopic and Laparoscopic Surgery by the European Society for Gynecological Endoscopy in Brussels.

Since May 2020, he is the Associate Director of the MITERA Hospital Medical Service and since January 2022 he is a Scientific Associate of the HYGEIA IVF Embryogenesis Assisted Reproduction Unit.

Vasileios Kellaris was born in Athens. He graduated from the University of Athens and served as an Intern in Obstetrics at ATTIKON University Hospital, having completed part of his residency at ELPIS Hospital and Aglaia Kyriakou Children’s Hospital.

He holds a PhD from the Athens University School of Medicine and a Master in High-risk Pregnancies. He also holds a Diploma of Specialization in Healthcare Organization Administration from the Hellenic Open University of Athens, an ALSO (Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics) Diploma and a Professional Certification on Human Reproduction from the Professional Training Centers (KEK).

He has received postgraduate training in Infertility and Assisted Reproduction Methods at UZ Brussel. He is certified in ultrasounds, holds a Diploma in Focus on Gynecology and an ISGE certification (International Society of Gynecological Endocrinology).

He is the Vice-Chairman at MITERA Hospital. He is also a member of the HSRM (Hellenic Society of Reproductive Medicine) and a member of the Hellenic Society of IVF Doctors. He is a Scientific Associate of the HYGEIA IVF Embryogenesis Assisted Reproduction Unit and a member of the Professional Training Centers (KEK) Steering Committee on Human Reproduction.

He is also a member of ESHRE (European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology), the European Academy of Gynecological Surgery and GFA (Global Fertility Academy), and an editor at the BMJ (British Medical Journal).

Prof. Evangelos Makrakis, a gynecologist specialized in Assisted Reproduction and Reproductive Endocrinology, is the Scientific Director of the HYGEIA IVF Embryogenesis Unit. He is an Associate Professor in the Medical School of Nicosia University, a graduate and PhD holder of the Athens University Medical School, and a gynecologist with extensive clinical experience and research activity. He has a rich CV that includes clinical posts in UK hospitals, Scientific Director posts in assisted reproduction units of both university/academic (Atticon University Hospital, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens) and private sectors (EMBRYOART), publications in international scientific journals (1448 references and 20 h-index until July 2023), lectures and presentations in international and Greek conferences.
Dr. Makrakis teaches undergraduate classes (Medical School of the University of Athens) and postgraduate classes (in eight postgraduate courses of Greek Universities). He is a board member of the Greek Society for Fertility/Infertility, the Association of Greek Infertility Doctors and the Hellenic Society of Gynecologic Endocrinology. He is also a member of the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology and the American Society for Reproductive Medicine.

Minas Mastrominas was admitted and graduated from the School of Medicine, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.

He holds a PhD from the University of Athens and an honorary diploma in Obstetrics/Gynecology from the European Board and College of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

He completed his residency in Obstetrics/Gynecology in Athens and attended postgraduate training for 2 years at Hammersmith University Hospital, London in Infertility and IVF.
In 1990, he founded the Embryogenesis Assisted Reproduction Unit, where more than 30,000 children were born through approximately 60,000 IVF cycles. The high success rates and innovation mark a progress spanning 30 years. From 1/1/2022, he and all the scientific personnel of Embryogenesis joined the HHG and jointly created HYGEIA IVF Embryogenesis, where he holds the position of Board Chairman.
He is a Board Member of the Hellenic Society of Fertility & Sterility and the European and American Fertility Societies. He has authored studies and articles in Greek and international journals.

He graduated from Lycee Leonin French School in 1988 and was admitted to the Athens University School of Medicine. After finishing his rural medical service at Ioannina, he completed his residency in Obstetrics/Gynecology in the UK. During his residency, he worked at 6 hospitals in England and Scotland, gaining experience in all areas of the residency, such as obstetrics and high-risk pregnancies, modern laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgeries, obstetric and gynecologic ultrasounds, colposcopies and cervical pathology, infertility and in vitro fertilization.

In 2004, after 6 years abroad, he returned to Greece. Since then and until 2020, he worked at the IASO Hospital Endoscopic Surgery Department, as well as the Institute of Life IVF and Assisted Reproduction Unit.

He worked at the Diagnosis, Embio and IVF Athens Center assisted reproduction units from 2006-2015. Since 2021, he has been an exclusive associate of MITERA, and a founding member of the HYGEIA IVF Embryogenesis Assisted Reproduction Unit.

He is a Member of the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE), the European Society for Gynecological Endoscopy (ESGE), the British Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology (BSCCP), the Reproductive Health and Family Planning Association in the UK (DFFP), the Hellenic Society of Fertility & Sterility (HSFS), as well as the General Medical Council of the UK (GMC).

He holds a degree from the School of Medicine, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, graduating in 1991 magna cum laude. After completing his training in General Surgery (1993), he was appointed at the Athens General Hospital, acquiring hands-on practice in Gynecologic Surgery and Cervical Pathology / Colposcopy. In 1996, he participated in the activities of the University Hospital Lewisham – Obstetrics and Gynecology (London). He was then appointed at Alexandra Hospital to continue his training in Obstetrics and Gynecology. In 1998, he completed his residency in Obstetrics/Gynecology. He has been licensed by the Ministry of Health for performing ultrasounds for his residency in 2002. He participated in the activities of the Lister Hospital IVF Unit (London). Since 2002, he has been a scientific associate of the Embryogenesis Assisted Reproduction Unit. For the past 20 years, he has performed more than 5,000 IVF cycles. In 2009, he participated in the founding team and in the SC of the GAIA Clinic.

He has authored chapters for the book Essential Obstetric and Perinatal Medicine by Professor Mr. S. Karpathios; he has also participated in many international and Greek conferences on IVF and endoscopic surgery. He has written articles in many scientific journals, mainly on IVF and infertility.

Since March 2021, he has been a Scientific Associate at MITERA and participated in the establishment of the HYGEIA IVF Embryogenesis Unit.

Dr. Stefanos Chandakas is an Obstetrician/Gynecologist and an Endoscopic Reproductive Surgeon. He graduated from the Athens University School of Medicine, where he completed his doctoral thesis (PhD) with honors. He holds a Master in Business Administration (MBA) from Imperial College London with honors.

He was trained in England and the United States in obstetrics, gynecology, IVF and laparoscopic/robotic surgery, while he was one of the youngest gynecology registrars in the UK National Health System (NHS) with a large number of scientific publications and authorship of books.

In the last 15 years, he has successfully established gynecological centers and IVF units in Greece and abroad.

Today, he is the Board Chairman of MITERA Hospital, Hellenic Healthcare Group.

In the last 14 years, he has been actively involved in charitable activities, initially with his participation in the Aegean Team and the provision of medical and supportive care for childbirth and fertility issues at remote islands of the Aegean Sea. Later on, in 2015, he established HOPEgenesis, the Greek non-profit health and social welfare organization which aspires to reverse the trend of declining birth rates in Greece and received the award for best NGO in Greece in 2018 by the European Union.
